Synod 2016 guest speaker

Rev. Norm Wesley

Image of Synod 2016 Guest Speaker Norm WesleyNorm has been an active member of the church, serving as an altar boy in his youth at St. Thomas Church, Moose Factory in the Diocese of Moosonee. Through the years he served as a member of the Select Vestry as well as lay reader for some 30 years. In August 2012, the 7th National Gathering of Aboriginal Anglicans took place in Pinawa, Manitoba known as Sacred Circle. Two hundred people travelled from all across Canada to ponder the implications of the future framed in "The Covenant and our Journey of Spiritual Renewal" and to plot a course for the gathering's theme, "Walking the Dream." Norm and his wife Jean were among the many and it was there that the Spirit called Norm to ordained Ministry.

He is a teacher at heart; an engaging facilitator, inspiring speaker and a compassionate mentor. His life's journey is to pursue his life's mission - "to encourage the hearts of others to soar to new heights". Life experiences as a family man, teacher, education director, college dean, first nation policy advisor, chief, tribal chairman and spiritual leader are foundations to his personal well-being and public standing.

Norm's personal inward journey - where he spent countless hours listening to his elders - has fashioned a unique understanding of who he is; his "Cree Reality".

He was ordinated into the deaconate in 2013 and in May 2104 ordained into the Priesthood. Norm is incumbent at Church of the Apostles, Moosonee and St. Thomas Church Moose Factory where he was born and raised; and where he currently resides with his wife Jean. He has three sons and one daughter, seven wonderful grandchildren and one great grandchild.
