Synod 2008
"Look, I have set before you an open door....."
(Revelation 3:8)
Synod 2008 opened at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008 in Christ Church Cathedral with a "Service of Abundance." Synod members attended, and all members of the Diocese were welcome to this Eucharist Service.
A reception followed in Cathedral Hall.
Synod continued at the St. Elias Centre, 750 Ridgewood Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 (with an 8:30 a.m. sharp start on both days).
This year our guest at Synod was the Rev. Canon Dr. Douglas Leighton, who specializes in Canadian history, Canadian church history and aboriginal history. He was present at the plenary sessions of Synod and joined the Bishop in reflecting on Lambeth at the Synod Banquet on Friday evening.
There was one seminar session. On Saturday, members shared the Good News in one of five ministry-oriented seminars related to aspects of "Faithful Stewards...New Directions."
