Welcoming refugees is an expression of our Christian faith
As baptized Christians we are covenanted to seek and serve Christ in all persons, but especially those who are in need.
We are enjoined to "love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt." (Deuteronomy 10:19-20).
Jesus said, "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." (Matthew 25:35,40)
The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa has been an advocate for and sponsor of refugees for over 30 years. Its Refugee Working Group meets ten times each year.
