God cares deeply for weekday worlds-the places where we live, learn, work, play and volunteer-and for the people who share these places with us. Not only that but God chooses to use us in those very places as agents for Christ's kingdom.

Faith at Work Sunday
A "Faith at Work" Sunday worship service is one in which members are invited to bring symbols of their daily life and work and place them in front of the altar to be blessed and the importance of our daily life callings is highlighted. Recently a "Faith at Work" service was held at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Ottawa. The Rev. Linda Privitera invited a couple of members/friends of the parish to share their stories of how their work and faith connect as part of the Sunday service. Diocesan staff person, Lisa Chisholm-Smith, drew out common themes in their stories at the conclusion of the homily time and continued the discussion following the Eucharist in a workshop and sandwich forum. It was clear from the number of people who shared their during the sermon time and who brought symbols of the daily life to the service that there was a hunger to connect faith and daily life and joy in doing so.

A British Methodist non-stipendiary minister has developed three interrelated cycles of work related prayers. The first cycle deals with roles and functions within corporate organizations. The second cycle deals with the different moods and dispositions people bring to their work and the third cycle attempts to address the various industries and occupations in the world of work.
