Financial development initiative

The Financial Development Panel, chaired by The Right Reverend John Chapman, has built on the work of two significant projects that have been instrumental in responding to our diocesan call for ministry: the creation of the Stewardship Council and our ongoing strategic planning process. In June 2009, a motion was presented by the Panel, and passed by Diocesan Council and then by Synod (in October 2009), to move forward with the next steps in assessing, planning and implementing a financial development and fundraising strategy, beginning with a planning feasibility study.

Giving to Charities 101
The giving to registered charities videocast informs Canadians about how charities are regulated in Canada and how to donate wisely.

The series includes three individual videos:

• "What's it all about?" introduces individuals to how charities become registered in Canada.
• "What's in it for me?" shows individuals the important role that charities play in Canada and the tax incentives available to taxpayers.
• "Where do I begin?" gives individuals the basic information they should know before donating to registered charities.

• « Qu'en est-il? » informe les gens sur la façon dont les organismes de bienfaisance reçoivent leur enregistrement au Canada.
• « Quels sont les avantages pour moi? » démontre le rôle important que jouent les organismes de bienfaisance au Canada et les incitatifs fiscaux offerts aux contribuables.
• « Par á commencer? » fournit les principaux renseignements que les gens devraient savoir avant de faire un don à un organisme de bienfaisance enregistré.
