The Diocese's Environment Subcommittee, known as Creation Matters, responds to the fifth Mark of Mission, "To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth" by focusing on not only on physical issues related to the environment, but also liturgical and public policy issues. Creation Matters does not limit itself to climate change: it addresses the spectrum of environmental degradation.

Focus
Creation Matters helps us "green" our churches and programs
  • church buildings and properties, including the operation and management of these assets
  • liturgical resources and practices
  • communications and educational materials
  • public witness to issues of creation care

Links to key video and website resources are provided in the left hand column, for you to view, use and share.

Subcommittee membership
Dedicated individuals bring a wealth of related study and experience in commercial development of renewable energy and clean technology projects, urban planning, environmental science, domestic and international environmental policy, education practice, and creation theology.

Background
The subcommittee formed in 2011 as our diocesan response to the Anglican Church of Canada's call for greater involvement in the work of addressing climate change in church operations and public policy discourse. Resolution A180-R1 (2010)
