Education
for Ministry (EFM) is a programme of theological education
by extension, for all Christians, which includes individual
study and group theological reflection. EFM teaches participants
how to think theologically, deepens their faith and understanding
of our Christian heritage, and provides them with a new
confidence for Christ's service. The Anglican Diocese of
Kootenay, together with the former Diocese of Cariboo, introduced
this program to Canada in 1977. As
an official sponsor of EFM, our diocese subsidizes the cost
of tuition for each participant by $50. In addition, the
diocese absorbs travel and accomodation costs for training
and re-certification opportunities for EFM leaders.

Generation 2 Generation Working Group
organizes an annual diocesan children's ministry workshop and resource
fair. A monthly column called "Seedlings" in our diocesan paper,
"Crosstalk", encourages children's ministry leaders, parents and
volunteers across the diocese. The Gen2Gen email information sharing
group provides a forum for Christians who are involved in ministries with
children to learn from one another, connect with peers and share information,
ideas and perspectives. It is monitored by members of the working group for ideas
and issues which many be picked up by "Seedlings" or used to assist the planning of
our annual events. This is a low volumn list, and you are free to unsubscribe

to be both enjoyable and useful. The courses consist of talks given by
lively, professional speakers, small group work with trained facilitators,
as well as reflection and discussion by participants themselves. Wanda Dillabough,
a registered individual, couple and family therapist, coordinates the programme.

Youth Synod provides an opportunity for
young people from across the diocese to meet, discuss issues that
are important to them, and share their views with the wider diocesan church.
It is a weekend conference that includes discussions, visioning, group learning,
worship, fellowship and fun. It is an important way to foster the skills young
people need to be meaningful participants in church leadership and ministry.
