Three new appointments to Diocesan Council
Diocesan Council affirmed three new appointments at its Saturday, November 19 meeting at St. John's, March. The appointments fill three unexpected vacancies that occurred since Synod. The newly appointed members, Glenn Bloodworth, The Reverend Kerri Brennan, and Josephine Hall, will take up their roles at the January meeting. All three appointments are for one-year terms. Two of the vacancies were for positions that had one year remaining on a three-year term. One vacancy was for a one-year term.
The Governance and Communications Committee was involved in the nomination process. They proposed the three nominees following our new governance guidelines.
Since there is, as yet, no provision in the Canons, Bylaws and Regulations of the Diocese for Diocesan Council to fill mid-term vacancies, it was
required that the Bishop make these appointments. The Governance and Communications Committee has drafted proposed modifications to the relevant
bylaw so that Diocesan Council will be in a position to fill such vacancies as necessary.
Glenn Bloodworth is a parishioner at St. Martin's, Ottawa, where he has been a warden three times. The Reverend Kerri Brennan is the Assistant Curate at Trinity Church, Cornwall. Josephine Hall is a parishioner at St. Michael and All Angels, Ottawa.
